Geothermal Heating/Cooling Systems

Whether your organisation needs to exceed the Government’s 10% renewable energy target, save up to 80% of heating bills or simply become more environmentally friendly then Intelligent Fluid Solutions Ltd. is here to help you achieve your goal.

The Basics:

  • Ground source heat pump system is a proven technology that transfers earth heat energy into the home
  • Using the same technology as a refrigerator the heat pump delivers around 5kW of heat energy for every 1kW of electrical energy
  • With unprecedented efficiency the heat pump is suitable for a wide range of properties of all geographical locations as long there is an electricity supply

The Benefits:

  • Exceed renewable energy mix targets
  • Save up to 80% on heating and cooling bills
  • Become eligible for tax credit
  • Decrease the cost of installation via access to a number of grants
  • It is a stable and long-term solution

Economics:

  • The heating system uses the Earth’s energy in conjunction with electricity to provide up to five times efficiency
  • These numbers can translate into real savings on your utility bills year-round

Technical Information

A heat pump is a device that moves heat from one location to another using mechanical work. Most heat pump technology moves heat from a low temperature heat source to a higher temperature heat sink. Common examples are refrigerators and freezers, air conditioners, and reversible-cycle heat pumps for providing thermal comfort which are the ones used in ground source heating systems.

Heat pump works by exploiting the physical properties of an evaporating and condensing fluid known as a refrigerant. Usual heat pump normally refers to a vapor-compression refrigeration device that includes a reversing valve and optimized heat exchangers so that the direction of heat flow may be reversed and provide both heating and cooling.

The term coefficient of performance (COP) is used to describe the ratio between useful thermal energy and the required electrical energy input. When used for heating of a building on a mild day, a typical heat pump has a COP of 4. That is, one joule of electrical energy will result in four joules of useful heat.
