Assessment of the Performance of an In-line Static Mixer

A concept design for an in-line static mixer was assessed and compared against a benchmark case. The concept design aimed to minimise pressure losses, typically associated with baffle type static mixers, by utilising a novel shape of pipe. The pipe induced secondary flow that achieved effective mixing of a low volume dosage into the main flow. IFS applied CFD techniques to perform the analysis on both the concept design and benchmark cases, that avoided the level of time and cost normally associated with build and test methods.
